The new jazz music has been introduced by Jamie cullum. Born in Essex in august 20, 1979, Cullum shows a really great talent in music. Not only that he’s a skilled musician in playing guitar, drum, and obviously, piano, he’s also a number one song writer and an impressive entertainer. He demonstrates an attractive music performance and gives a new face in jazz world.

Normally, the jazz singers are they who are elegantly demonstrated their performance. The jazz show is a quiet, romantic, and deep breath taking show. With Jamie Cullum as your entertainer, all you will have is totally fresh and ‘catchy’ jazz show. The jazz listeners, I believe, are increasing, particularly the young girls, since his physical appearance is undoubtedly good looking.

Cullum started his musical career in young age. He was recorded as the members of some bands before deciding to do his own music. He got full support from his family, especially his brother, ben cullum, who helped him much in his early career.

Jamie cullum started to steal world’s attention through his album, catching tales. Here, he created a totally new and different music taste of jazz. It is indeed a mixture of jazz and pop, creating a more up beat jazz songs. After his debut, he acknowledged that his album was inspired by many musical genres. “At first I didn’t think certain songs had a place in what I was doing with jazz, but I’ve realized that everything does, and that reaffirms my belief that jazz is the greatest platform to do whatever you want. People ask why I play jazz. It’s because you can take it to so many different places. You can embrace dance music, rock, pop music, classical, funk, everything… And I touch on all those things in this record.” Jamie cullum’s performance offers you a different, fresh and dynamic jazz music. Jazz up your life!

Music Video Clip Website

Jazz guitar music is based on various guitarists’ attempts to experiment with the form used to express musical ideas. Jazz began with the African slaves combining the song and dance forms they found in America with the musical traditions they carried with them from their homeland. Since then jazz musicians of every nationality have developed certain methods of taking a musical idiom and turning it into jazz by interpreting the music using jazz chord substitution and improvising techniques.

The trademark of the jazz guitar player is that he is inventing new music all the time. When people learn to play musical instruments it is usually with the aim of playing the songs or instrumentals of a famous musician. In jazz the aim is to build new music using other musical genres or the works of composers from outside jazz. A jazz guitarist with a number of years’ experience will have developed his own ways of improvising over a song or instrumental piece. Quite often his improvisation will be based on the techniques of using the notes in the chord he is playing to provide the material for his solo, or to simply use the notes he finds in the melody.

Whichever approach the jazz guitar player uses he will always depart from the melodic structure of the musical work he is improvising over and use melodic figures or “licks” which he has made up or learned from other guitarists. A lick is a combination of notes which can be used in improvising over music in any key. A lick is like a very short tune or fraction of a melody. Listen carefully to a jazz guitar solo. Try imitating some of the licks that you hear. You do not need to play them exactly, just imitate them and see how they fit with other licks to carry the solo to its ending.

Other jazz guitar techniques are the substitution of chords using other chords with more interest or color, the use of walking bass to add interest or changing the rhythm of a song. You can find examples of all these jazz guitar techniques by listening to the music of jazz guitar players like Charlie Christian, one of the pioneers of jazz guitar, Charlie Byrd, an exponent of latin jazz guitar who developed a genre of his own using classical guitar techniques to play jazz, or Wes Montgomery, a guitar player who ventured into many fields of music.

Anybody wanting to learn to play jazz guitar will be wondering what guitars give you that distinctive jazz sound. Of course you can play jazz on any guitar but when musicians think of a “jazz guitar” they usually have in mind a guitar with “f” holes in the body, an arched top and a piezoelectric pickup. This gives that warm, expressive jazz feel that people associate with jazz guitar and is expressed so well in the work of Wes Montgomery. Epiphone is the brand name most jazz fans associate with this kind of guitar but they are also made by D’Angelico, Gibson and others.

To learn to play jazz guitar, even in a comparatively superficial sense entails listening to alot of jazz guitar music. As you listen you need to analyze what jazz guitarists do and what you, as a musician, WANT to do. Maybe you do not want to learn jazz as a genre but just to play in the style of a certain jazz guitar player. This will cut your work load considerably as you can find tabs for the work of many jazz guitar players on the internet.

Times may be hard and the credit crunch may be kicking in but there are still many people looking to have a great night out and enjoy themselves every once in a while. This means that venues that offer something out of the ordinary and allow people the chance to truly escape from their normal lives are extremely well regarded and what better way to unwind after a hard day or week at work by hearing the thrilling sound of live jazz instruments. Whether it is a jazz band in full flow or a solo jazz artist giving an audience great joy and pleasure, there are not many musical genres that can match the majesty of a live jazz performance.

Of course, as has already been said people have to consider ways to reduce their spending and make savings which means there is a great reason to learn how to play a jazz instrument. Not only will learning a new instrument give enjoyment and something to focus on, the opportunity to put on your very own live jazz performances at home in front of friends and family members will provide a fantastic alternative to a night out on the town. So you can have your own fun at home or who knows, you may end up playing in jazz clubs yourself one day.

Learn to play jazz music

So many different instruments and styles can be used to come together in a jazz performance that one of the hardest tasks can be to choose exactly what you are going to play. Always make sure you evaluate your options before making your mind up as there are great options available to choose between. There are so many great jazz instruments that no matter what you choose, there is likely to be a place in a jazz band waiting for you to add your personal style to the mix.

Joining a band is a fantastic way of meeting new friends and if you decide to join a band that plays jazz music, it’s likely you will have a lot in common with your fellow band mates. This means that joining a band can have a great social aspect to it which is another fantastic reason to learn a new instrument. With busy lives, some people find it difficult to make new friends so this opportunity to meet new people is a great addition to many people’s lives. Having fun can never happen too often so why not make the most of your free time and join a band?

How many jazz clubs do you go to?

It may not be the most obvious choice of evening’s entertainment for a great number of folk but being able to head out with friends and enjoy a few hours of great jazz music is a welcome treat for so many people and it is this that provides inspiration to many people. Once people hear the sound of jazz instruments live, it is as if there is a spark being set alight within them and they quickly develop a desire to make music with a jazz band.

By: James Hanna
